Since the election of Alexander Lukashenko as President of the Republic of Belarus in 1994 there has been a concerted campaign of misinformation, and lies about the country and its government. This campaign aims to highlight both the truth, and the reasons behind the lies about Belarus.

The US government passed the Belarus Democracy Act in 2004 as well as labeling Belarus an 'outpost of tyranny' and frequently calling President Lukashenko "Europe's last dictator".

The reality of the situation is very different. Basic information can be found in the 'About Belarus' section above, but some key  articles are linked to below. The purpose being to show independent and first hand assessments of the situation in Belarus. It also ought to be noted that the US congress has allocated 20 million dollars to be used by the anti-Lukashenko movement this year alone, with an additional 7.5 million dollars to be used by anti-Lukashenko media. This goes some way to explaining the neccesity of this campaign to bring objectivity to the discussion of Belarus.
